Dr Mark Cornwell studied Medicine at the University of Queensland and undertook Physician training at the Royal Prince Alfred and Princess Alexandra Hospitals before completing Gastroenterology training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

Mark moved to Lismore with his family in 1995 and in 2003 was a founding director of Northern Rivers Gastroenterology.
His training in upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP and capsule endoscopy is recognised by the Conjoint Committee and he has completed Colonoscopy Recertification.
Mark is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, GE Society of Australia, European Association for the Study of the Liver and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and has regularly attended national and international scientific meetings as part of his commitment to ongoing medical education.
Mark has participated in the education and training of medical students and doctors and has completed a Colonoscopy Train the Trainers course. He is a member of ANZGITA, a volunteer-based training organisation and has twice volunteered as an endoscopy trainer in Myanmar.

Dr Indira Singh-Grewal studied medicine at UNSW and then completed her internship, residency and  Physician training at St Vincents Hospital Darlinghurst. Gastroenterology training was completed at St Vincents and Prince of Wales Hospital Randwick.

She has practiced in the Northern Rivers area since 2003 and has 20yrs of experience working as a gastroenterologist in a regional setting in both private and public practice.

Areas of interest include:

Colonoscopies including polypectomy and EMR

Colorectal cancer screening and prevention – positive FOBTs, screening and surveillance Diagnostic  and therapeutic gastroscopies

PEG insertion

Consultation for GI symptoms in general gastroenterology including  reflux, inflammatory bowel disease ,coeliac disease, iron deficiency, altered bowel habit, dysphagia and others.
